Social organization 'Aid for Men Foundation' has demanded final and exemplary punishment of cricketers Nasir Hossain and Tamima Sultana.
On Monday (June 8), they were demanded to be punished by human chain in front of the National Press Club to 'protect the sanctity of marriage in the society, stop fraud in divorce and prevent adultery and adultery'.
General Secretary of the organization Saiful Islam Nadeem, Publicity Secretary Khaled Tanmoy, Vice President of Dhaka District Committee Iftekhar Hossain, Organizing Secretary Alamgir Chowdhury, Office Secretary Yasir Arafat, General Secretary of Sonargaon Upazila Committee Mohiuddin Khokon were present in the human chain.
Besides, central leaders of the organization, Supreme Court lawyers, human rights activists, journalists and hundreds of ordinary people including victims from different levels of the country.
Saiful Islam Nadeem, general secretary of Manabbandhane organization, said, “Today we stand here with a chest of anger and demand for justice. We are constantly complained by many expatriate brothers in crying voices that they spend money day and night to send money to the country, and on that occasion, some dishonest women are having extramarital affairs with other men without giving a legal divorce and breaking the family.”
He said, “The biggest reason behind this heinous crime is Section 497 of the Penal Code and the limitations of our legal system. According to the existing Section 497, a married woman cannot be punished for committing adultery or adultery, while a man must face the punishment. This is a clear legal discrimination against men!”
He said, “Not only that, we see a tendency to give 'women's consideration' bail, not to handcuff or give light punishment even for serious crimes. Taking advantage of this laxity and discrimination of the law, some arbitrary women are getting the courage to engage in extreme crimes. Our clear demand to the state and learned courts is that the law should be equal for all. Whether the criminal is a woman or a man, the punishment of the crime should be equal. The biggest example of this is the much-discussed Nasir and Tamima. case. The PBI investigation report has clearly established that both of them are involved in heinous crimes like adultery and divorce fraud.”
Iftekhar Hossain, Vice President of Dhaka District Committee, said, “Many expatriate families are being broken due to adultery and fraud by some dishonest women without giving legal divorce. The victims are not getting justice due to the laxity of the law.”
