Miscreants shot dead a man named Hussain Ali in front of his children in Pabna. Besides, in another incident, a young man named Monirul Islam was stabbed to death.
The shooting took place in front of the Jamia Ashrafiya Madrasa in Pabna Municipal area around 6:30 pm on Monday (June 8) and the stabbing occurred behind the Central Bus Terminal around 4 pm.
Hossain Ali (55) killed in firing is the son of deceased Moin Uddin of Goeshpur Zafrabad village of Pabna Sadar Upazila. Monirul Islam (22) who was killed by stabbing is the son of Munnaf Ali of Shivrampur Paschimpara village of Santhia upazila in Pabna.
Talking to the police and eyewitnesses, Hossain Ali went to Jamia Ashrafia Madrasa around 6:30 pm to keep the child. The miscreants, who were already hunting camels around, shot him in front of the child and fled. Hussain Ali died on the spot.
An argument broke out between two youths named Rakib and Monirul in the afternoon due to a previous dispute in Pabna Central Bus Terminal area. Meanwhile Rakib stabs Monirul. When the people around came forward, Rakib jumped into the nearby pond after seeing the dire situation. After receiving the information, the police arrested Rakib from the spot.
At that time, local people rescued Monirul and took him first to Pabna General Hospital and later to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he died.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pabna Sadar Police Station Tariqul Islam said that Hossain Ali's body was recovered and sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy. And Monirul's body is on the way from Rajshahi to Pabna.
He also said that the accused Rakib has been arrested in connection with Monirul's murder. Necessary legal action is under process in all these incidents.
