Two drug smugglers along with 60,000 pieces of Yaba have been arrested in an operation by Border Guard Force (BGB) in Ukhia Upazila of Cox's Bazar. On Saturday (June 6) the captain of Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) Lt. Col. Md. Zahirul Islam informed this information.
They were arrested in a raid on Friday (June 5) night.
The arrested are Kefayet Ullah (30) son of Amir Hossain of FDMN camp area of ​​Ukhia Police Station and Hobayet (18) son of Maulvi Rafiq of Karengaghona village of Hoikung Union of Teknaf Upazila.
Lieutenant Colonel Md. Zahirul Islam said that based on secret information, the special patrol team of Hoikang BOP was stationed in Carengaghona area near the border pillar BRM-18. BGB members challenged the two suspects when they saw them entering Bangladesh from Myanmar at around 8pm on Friday. Sensing the presence of the BGB, when they tried to escape, the two were chased and arrested. After searching their bodies, 60,000 pieces of yaba were recovered from two pots wrapped in black cloth.
He also said that during the preliminary interrogation, the arrested persons admitted that they were collecting yaba from the border area of ​​Myanmar and bringing it to Bangladesh to sell it at a higher price.
The rescued Yaba and the two arrested accused have been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station, he said.
