BSF has evacuated those 10 people who were stuck at Barabari border

BGB members are in strict position at Panchagarh border.

The Indian Border Guard Force (BSF) evacuated 10 people, including men and women, who were stuck near the zero line at Barabari border in Panchagarh for three consecutive days after the pushin's attempt in Bangladesh.

According to BGB, BSF switched off the border floodlights around 2:30 midnight on Sunday (June 7) and shifted them to another place. No information was available on where the men, women and children were taken or where they are currently staying.

According to local sources, BSF tried to push three children, two women and five men to Bangladesh through Barabari border of Harivasa Union of Panchagarh Sadar Upazila last Friday morning. They could not enter Bangladesh in the face of BGB obstacles. Since then they were stationed under the open sky near the Zero Line on the Indian side of the border. For three days they have to spend an inhumane life in the sun, rain and food shortage. Especially children and women suffer the most. This incident caused concern among the locals.

Even on Sunday afternoon, when the BSF tried to push the 10 people towards Bangladesh, the BGB strongly protested. At one point, the two forces moved into a face-to-face position on the border. Later the situation calmed down when the BSF retreated. BGB deploys additional personnel to deal with any eventuality.

BGB Ghagra Company Commander Subedar Azad said, “BGB is on alert on the border. We are ready to face any situation.”

Earlier, a flag meeting was held between the BGB and BSF at the company commander level on Friday and at the battalion commander level on Saturday, but no resolution was reached. The BGB said that during the meeting, the BSF refused to take back the detained persons.
