In the last 24 hours, one more child died of measles symptoms in Mymensingh Medical College (MMC) Hospital. As a result, 34 children died in hospital with measles and symptoms.

On Tuesday (May 19) morning, Assistant Director (Administration) of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Mainuddin Khan informed this information.

He said, “The deceased girl child is 8 months old. Her home is in Bhaluka, Mymensingh. She was admitted to the hospital with measles symptoms on the morning of May 17.” He said that the child was suffering from measles as well as pneumonia.

Meanwhile, 34 more children were admitted to the hospital with symptoms of the disease in the last 24 hours. 32 children returned home after recovery. At present, 104 children are under treatment for measles in Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Since March 17, 1 thousand 452 children have been treated for measles in the hospital. 1 thousand 314 children returned home after recovery.

Doctors said, as measles is a highly contagious viral disease, it spreads rapidly in the air through sneezing and coughing or direct contact. Many children are coming to the hospital with pneumonia, diarrhea along with measles.
