Extortion by offering 20 rupees, accused arrested

In Gopalganj, a 7-year-old child has been accused of raping a child for 20 rupees. The accused Shafiqul Molla (20) has been arrested by the police.

The incident took place on Friday night (May 29) at Madhumati Bakery in Bisik Shilpa Nagar, Gopalganj suburb.

According to local sources, a child was going to his grandfather's house after Friday evening. Shafiqul called him from the Bisik Bridge with 20 taka and food. He took the child to the second floor of Madhumati Bakery and talked. When the child screamed, Shafiqul tortured him by pressing a pillow over his face.

When the incident became known, the local people detained the accused Shafiqul and informed the police. Police reached the spot and took the accused into custody. The police sent the sick child to Gopalganj Medical College Hospital for treatment and health examination.

The victim's mother strongly condemned this inhumane incident and demanded exemplary punishment for accused Shafiqul.

Gopalganj Sadar Police Station OC (Investigation) Nayan Chandra Debnath said that accused Shafikul was arrested from the spot. Initially, the truth of the incident was found. The accused confessed to the crime. The victim child has been sent to the hospital.
