The body of four-year-old child Farzana, who went missing while taking a bath in Nalia river, was recovered in Mathabhanga village of Eliasabad union in Kalia upazila of Narail. Farzana is the daughter of Ali Molya of Mathabhanga village.
The body of the child was recovered from Aizpara area on Friday (June 5) around 5:30 pm.
Farzana's father, Ali Molya, said that on Thursday (June 4) afternoon, Farzana went to bathe in the Nalia river near the house with her grandmother. At one point, Farzana drowned in the river. After the incident, local people along with her family tried to rescue Farzana. But unable to rescue him, Kalia informed the fire service diving team.
Later, the members of the diving team of the fire service reached the spot and started rescue operations but could not find Farzana.
Kalia Fire Service Station Officer Humayun Kabir said, “After 2 pm on Friday, the members of the diving team from Khulna tried to rescue the child, but they could not find him. Later in the afternoon, I learned that his body had been washed away.”
Kalia police station officer-in-charge (OC) Idris Ali said, “Missing Farzana's body was washed away in the Nalia river. However, her body will be handed over to her family after the legal process.”
