Prime Minister invites the President of Turkey to visit Bangladesh


Prime Minister Tariq Rahman has invited Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in Tejgaon in the capital on Saturday (June 6) afternoon, according to a press release.

At this time, Tariq Rahman thanked the Turkish Foreign Minister for his visit to Bangladesh.

Hakan Fidan conveyed President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan's greetings to Prime Minister Tarek Rahman.

He said, “His visit is the first step to elevate Bangladesh-Türkiye relations to a strategic level.”

For this purpose, both sides have agreed to organize annual foreign office consultation at the foreign minister level.

Besides, it has been decided to organize 'two plus two' (2+2) consultation meeting every year with the participation of foreign and defense ministers of the two countries.

Besides, with the aim of strengthening political, economic and strategic cooperation, a consultation structure or committee will be formed with the participation of the respective ministries under the foreign ministers of the two countries.

The overall issues of bilateral relations were reviewed in the meeting. In particular, the Rohingya crisis, climate change, trade and investment, joint production and cooperation and various regional and international issues of mutual interest were discussed.

Foreign Minister on behalf of Bangladesh in the meeting. Khalilur Rahman, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam and Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir were present.
