World Cup football craze has started spreading from cities to villages. This frenzy has touched football fans in Bahugram of Muksudpur Upazila in Gopalganj. Argentina fans have built a 16-foot-tall statue of Messi. Brazil fans are not far behind. They created portraits of Brazilian football star Neymar. Germany fans covered the entire area with their country's flag.
On Friday (June 5) afternoon in Bahugram, Argentina fans were seen building a 16 feet tall sculpture to express their love for their favorite star Lionel Messi. It was built by four friends named Prabash Das, Alak Biswas, Badal Mondal and Sajeev Biswas. From May 22, they started the construction of the sculpture with bamboo, wood and clay. The construction will be completed on June 10. About 1 lakh rupees were spent to make it.
The sculpture, which is under construction at the initiative of local supporters, has already generated a lot of discussion in the area. Messi fans from the surrounding villages flock to see the sculpture every day. Their hope is that this time Argentina will be the champion and the fans will be happy.
Meanwhile, Brazilian fans who are fans of superstar Neymar Jr. are not far behind. They have already installed a giant portrait of Neymar. A 360-foot-long Brazilian flag has been hung in Bahugram market. He said that they have organized this exceptional event to express their love and support for their favorite team.
Not only Argentina or Brazil, but Germany and Spain have also been hung. On the occasion of the World Cup, the organization is not limited to making sculptures or portraits. Arrangements are also being made to telecast matches through projectors on big screens to enjoy the game. Besides, cultural programs and concerts have been organized for the visitors. This initiative has created new enthusiasm not only among Argentina fans, but among football lovers throughout the region.
Prabhas Das said, “Messi is not just a footballer, he is a symbol of our passion and love. We are building this sculpture out of respect and love for him. We will sit in front of Messi's sculpture and watch the game, that's the joy.''
Sudhanshu Majumder said, “We have hung a 360 feet long flag to support Brazil. Which has a wide response in the area. Every day people from far and wide flock to see the flag and portrait of Neymar. There is a lot of enthusiasm among the local youth around this event.
