A decision to internationalize Syedpur Airport is under consideration

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanom Rita said that the government is actively considering the decision to upgrade Syedpur Airport to an international airport.

He said this while interacting with journalists at Syedpur Airport on Wednesday (May 20) at 9 am.

Afroza Khanom Rita said that the areas in which the Prime Minister has promised to set up airports will be implemented in phases.

Pointing out that it is not possible to implement all the projects at once, he said, “Everything will be done slowly.”

The minister said, “The airport development plan is being taken considering the interests of the country and the people, passenger service needs and economic importance. Due to the strategic importance of Syedpur as the gateway to the northern region and the industrial and commercial potential of the region, the government is considering the Syedpur airport with special importance.”

Regarding land acquisition for airport expansion, he said, “The process is likely to start after Eidul Azhar.”

At this time, senior officials of the airport, representatives of the local administration and various levels of people were present.
