Father and daughter killed by lightning in Tangail

Father and daughter died due to lightning in Delduar, Tangail. The accident took place in Shahdaripara village of Fazilhati in the upazila on Friday (May 5) afternoon.

The deceased are – Md. Motherkol village of Sadar Union of Delduar Upazila. Aynal Haque's son Khalidul Islam (30) and Khalidul's daughter Khadija Akhtar (10).

According to family sources, Khalidul went to Putiajani village of Fazilhati Union with his wife and daughter on Friday. In the afternoon, he left for another relative's house in the neighboring Meruaghona village. While reaching a place called Shahdaripara on the way, the father and daughter were struck by lightning while getting off the auto-rickshaw. When the two were rescued and taken to the hospital, doctors declared them dead.

Meanwhile, two cows of Asab Khan were also killed by lightning in Zangalia village of Sadar Union.

The officer-in-charge (OC) of Delduar police station Mohammad Sakhawat admitted the truth of the incident and said that after the legal process, the bodies of father and daughter have been handed over to their families.
