Two more children died of measles in the last 24 hours at the Mymensingh Medical College (MAMEC) Hospital. As a result, 43 children died in the hospital with measles and symptoms.
On Saturday (May 30) morning, Assistant Director (Administration) of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Mainuddin Khan informed this information.
He said, “One of the dead children is four months old. His home is in Sadar Upazila of Kishoreganj. He was admitted to the hospital last May 23 morning with measles symptoms. The other child is 3 months and 15 days old. His home is in Mymensingh Sadar Upazila. He was admitted to the hospital last May 25.” He said that the two children were suffering from measles as well as pneumonia.
Meanwhile, 38 more children were admitted to the hospital with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours. At present, 116 children are under treatment for measles in Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Since March 17, 1708 children have been treated for measles in the hospital. 1549 children returned home after recovery.
Doctors said, as measles is a highly contagious viral disease, it spreads rapidly in the air through sneezing and coughing or direct contact. Many children are coming to the hospital with pneumonia, diarrhea along with measles.
