50 injured in clash with 'Brazil'-'Argentina' match in Habiganj

In Habiganj, there was a clash between two sides over the winning and losing of a football game called Argentina vs. Brazil. At least 50 people were injured on both sides.

The clash took place in Kashipur village of Lokra Union of Sadar Upazila on Wednesday (June 3) afternoon. On receiving the information, the police went to the spot and calmed down the situation. Several of the injured in the clash have been admitted to Sadar Modern Hospital.

According to local sources, a friendly football match named Argentina vs Brazil was held in Kashipur village on Tuesday (June 2) afternoon. The Brazilian team lost 2-0 in the game. After the game, the Argentine fans started cheering and an argument broke out between the two sides. Later in the night, the elders of the area met and settled the matter.

Due to this dispute, people from both sides once again got into an argument on Wednesday afternoon. At one stage people from both sides jumped on each other with native weapons. At least 50 people were injured in the hour-long chase and encounter. Locals rescued the injured and brought them to Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital.

In the evening Habiganj Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Zahidul Haque said that as soon as the information was received, the police went to the spot and calmed down the situation. Currently the situation in the area is under control. He said that the special operation of the police is continuing to identify and arrest those involved in the commotion.
