Closure of garment factories without payment of dues

The workers of a garment factory in Gazipur faced an unexpected situation after returning to work after the Eid-ul-Azhar holiday. When they came to join work, they found a notice hanging on the main gate of the factory announcing the closure of the factory for an indefinite period. This decision without payment of salaries and other dues has created anger among the workers.

The incident took place at the Cortex Apparels Limited factory located in Madhavpur area of ​​Kashimpur police station in Gazipur city on Sunday (June 7) morning. Hundreds of workers working in the factory suddenly gathered in front of the gate after hearing the announcement and expressed concern about their future.

The authorities have decided to close the factory without paying the due salaries and other financial dues due to the workers' complaint. In this, they have to fall into uncertainty about their families. They demanded immediate payment of dues and reopening of factories.

The news of the closure of the factory quickly spread to the surrounding area, creating tension. To avoid any untoward incident, members of law and order forces along with the industrial police were stationed at the spot.

SI Ibrahim of Gazipur Industrial Police-2 said that the police reached the spot after receiving information about the agitation of the workers in the morning. A closure notice was found at the gate of the factory. Workers have been urged to remain calm and attempts are being made to communicate the matter with the factory authorities.

The statement of the factory authorities was not available regarding the complaints of the workers.
