Top leaders of Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) and Agriculturalists Association of Bangladesh (AB) have been accused of spreading false and biased information online. AB has announced to take legal action against those involved by strongly condemning and protesting it.
He announced this at an emergency press conference organized at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Sunday (May 7).
Convenor of the Abbey at the press conference. Kamruzzaman Kaiser said that baseless accusations of extorting Tk 4 lakh from the KIB fund are being spread against some leaders including the member secretary of Abe.
Explaining the incident, he said that on the occasion of the arrival of the Prime Minister, the infrastructure development, renovation and beautification of the KIB building was done. The work is completed under the supervision of concerned authorities and responsible agronomists. Later, as part of payment of outstanding bills, the money is paid to contractors and service providers in a fully legal and approved manner. There was no coercion or unethical transaction here.
Shahadat Hossain Biplab, member secretary of ABB, said, “A gang pressured KIB Accounts Department Assistant Manager Dilip Kumar Sarkar to take a video statement. Later, clippings of that video were spread on social media to create confusion. Later, Dilip Kumar Sarkar himself clarified in another video message that he was not intimidated. The money was paid as the outstanding bill for the renovation work of KIB building.”
Dilip Kumar Sarkar, who was present at the press conference, said, “Confusion has been created by spreading clippings of my video. In fact, I have done everything according to the law.”
The misunderstanding has already been resolved
Convenor of the Abbey. Kamruzzaman Qaiser said, “After the matter came up, discussions were held between the two sides at the initiative of senior agriculturists. It is clear from the documents that the whole matter was a misunderstanding and misinterpretation of information. The matter was settled then and there. There was no dispute between the two parties. But, after a long time, efforts are being made to stir up the settled incident. Such disinformation is well-planned to tarnish the image of the agriculturist society, KIB and Abe.” effort.”
Dr. Kaiser said, “At present, Abe has a committee of 6 people. One of them is going on a different path. He is running various smear campaigns to make Abe controversial. A written complaint will be submitted to the highest level of BNP soon to take action against him. Legal action will also be taken against him for spreading false information.”
