Newly appointed chairman of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Masood Khan said that the commission is determined to build a transparent, accountable, technology-based and sustainable stock market with the cooperation of all market participants.
He said these things during a courtesy meeting with the board of directors of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) at the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) on Sunday (June 7).
Masud Khan said that the commission has started working with a clear action plan to make the stock market more dynamic and investment friendly. As part of this plan, full digitization of market operations will be ensured and a simple, transparent and effective regulatory framework will be developed by reducing unnecessary complexities. Necessary amendments will be taken after reviewing the recently made IPO, Margin Loan and Mutual Fund Rules.
In the meeting with the top officials of BSEC and DSE, the overall activities of the commission, the roadmap of BSEC for the development of the capital market and the future plans of BSEC as per the election manifesto were discussed.
In the meeting, DSE Chairman Mominul Islam said that the DSE Board and Management are ready to provide full cooperation in implementing the desired and fundamental reforms in the stock market. There is also a need for capacity building in IPO evaluation and market surveillance.
DSE Director Richard De Rosario said, re-evaluation of share category system, introduction of modern settlement system and delisting process should be implemented seriously.
DSE Director Minhaj Mannan expressed confidence in the new leadership of the Commission and assured DSE's full cooperation to build a transparent, modern and investment-friendly capital market.
It is noted that the newly appointed chairman and commissioners came to the commission for the second day today. They held a meeting with the top officials of DSE and BSEC. At this time BSEC Commissioner Tanvir Habib Rahman, Nahid Mahtab and Md. Nafiz Al Tariq and top officials of BSEC were present.
