US President Donald Trump said that negotiations with Iran are in the final stage. However, if Iran does not agree to the deal, more attacks will occur. He said this to reporters on Wednesday (May 20).
Six weeks after Trump suspended 'Operation Epic Fury' for a ceasefire, little progress has been made so far in talks to end the war. Trump said this week that he came close to ordering more strikes, but held back to allow more time for negotiations.
“We are in the final stages of negotiations with Iran. Let's see what happens. Either there will be a deal, or we will take some drastic measures, but hopefully that will not happen,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
Trump said, “We'll try this time. I'm in no rush. Ideally, I'd rather have a few people die than a lot of people die. We can do it either way.”
Tehran, on the other hand, has accused Trump of plotting to restart the war and has threatened attacks beyond the Middle East in response to any attack.
“If the aggression against Iran is repeated, the promised regional war will spread beyond the region,” the Revolutionary Guards said in a statement.
