Injured person dies after being beaten up by adulterated milk traders, arrest 1

A man named Hashem Pramanik (45) died after being beaten up by adulterated milk traders at Chatmohar in Pabna on suspicion of giving information to the administration. He died at his home around 2:30 midnight on Thursday (June 4). When the case was filed, the police arrested an accused named Shaheen Ezhar.

The deceased is the son of deceased Noor Ali Pramanik of Natabaria village of Bilchalon union of Hashem upazila.

Local residents said that for a long time, a person named Abdul Momin was making adulterated milk and selling it to various milk cooling centers in Natabaria village. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Musa Nasser Chowdhury raided his factory after learning about the matter based on secret information. During this time, a large amount of chemicals, adulterated milk and milk making equipment were seized. After that, Abdul Momin was fined Tk 50,000 by the mobile court.

When Abdul Momin again started dealing in adulterated milk within a year of that incident, Executive Magistrate Musa Nasser Chowdhury seized a large amount of chemical and adulterated milk from his house in a second round of raids based on secret information. In this incident, a case was registered in the police station in the name of Abdul Momin and some others including his father. Then the police arrested Abdul Momin's father and sent him to jail.

They alleged that Abdul Momin and his men severely beat Hashem Ali and others with sticks and native weapons on May 29 on the suspicion of giving information to the administration. Among them, Hashem Pramanik, who was seriously injured, was first admitted to Pabna and later to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Hashem Pramanik died around 2:30 midnight on Thursday after returning home after treatment.

On Friday (June 5), Chatmohar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Oliur Rahman said that the deceased Hashem Pramanik's nephew has filed a case at the police station. Ezahar's accused Shaheen was arrested in a raid on Thursday night. The arrested person was sent to jail through the court on Friday morning. Police operations are on to nab the other accused.
