A mobile court run by the upazila administration imposed a fine of Tk 50,000 on the charges of illegal cutting of soil and digging of ponds in Naldanga of Natore.
The operation was conducted in Mirzapur Diarpara area of ​​Bipra-Belgharia Union of Naldanga Upazila on Friday (May 22) night. Md. due to illegal cutting of agricultural land during the campaign. A person named Mintu Pramanik (42) was fined Tk 50,000.
For a long time, some parts of the three-crop land in the area were being illegally cut and dug for ponds and sold commercially at different places. When the matter came to the attention of the local administration, the mobile court conducted the raid on Friday night. 4 battery operated vehicles used for soil cutting were seized in the raid.

Naldanga Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Md. Sabuj Ali said, “Three-crop farmland is very important for the food production of the country. Deforestation of these lands is destroying the fertility of the land and will have an adverse effect on future agricultural production. Everyone should be aware to protect farmland.”
Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Ashiqur Rahman said, “Severe damage is being done to the environment and cropland by illegally cutting the soil. Without the permission of the administration, such activities are completely illegal. Our campaign against such activities will continue.”
Naldanga Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md. Al Imran Khan said, “The upazila administration is in a strict position to protect agricultural land. Regular operations will be conducted against those involved in illegal soil cutting, digging ponds or changing the classification of agricultural land. Agricultural land will not be allowed to be destroyed in any way.”
Local conscious people welcome this initiative of the administration and say that due to illegal cutting of agricultural land, on the one hand, the arable land is decreasing, on the other hand, the balance of the environment is also being destroyed. So such operations should be conducted regularly.
