Israel wouldn't exist without me: Trump

US President Donald Trump has claimed that if it were not for him, the state of Israel would not exist at this moment. He claimed this at the 'Pod Force One' event on Tuesday (June 2) night.

Trump also rejected accusations that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had pushed the US president to start a war against Iran. He claimed that this decision was entirely his own.

Trump said, “He cheated on me? I started it.”

“We cannot allow them (Iran) to get nuclear weapons,” Trump said of the reason for the war.

Trump considers these claims to be the work of political opponents.

“They're just Democrats. They're people who don't know what they're doing,” he said.

The US president said his concerns about Iran's nuclear program date back to his first term, when he withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal negotiated under President Barack Obama's administration.

“The same applies to Israel, because they would probably be the first to be hit. I tell you, if it wasn't for me, there would be no Israel,” he said.
