Men and women at the zero line on the Bangladesh-India border.
The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) tried to push 28 people into Bangladesh through the Bangabari border of Gomstapur Upazila of Chapainawabganj. The incident took place on Wednesday (June 3) around 3 pm. They could not come in the face of resistance from BGB members.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ariful Islam Masum, commander of 16 battalion of BGB, gave this information on Thursday (June 4) morning.
The BGB captain said, “Out of the 28 people who tried to push, 12 men, 10 women and 6 children. They were pushed towards Bangladesh by the members of 12 BSF Battalion Ashrafpur Camp through the area adjacent to the 203/6-R pillar of the Bangabari border. The BGB members confirmed their position and took a strict stand to prevent entry into Bangladesh territory. Those 28 people are staying at the zero line of the border. The BGB is requesting them to go back. If there is no return, a push-back will be attempted.”
He also said that in such a situation, he has received information that the manpower has been increased in the BSF posts across the border. Border surveillance has been increased with BGBO patrols being strengthened.
