Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee canceled the meeting called with the councilors of Kolkata Municipality due to public anger and rotten eggs!

After the resignation of Mayor Firhad of Kolkata, there is uncertainty about the activities of the municipality. Mamata called a meeting to decide on this matter. But on Sunday (June 7) morning, Mamata abruptly canceled the pre-scheduled meeting. According to sources, most of the councilors are not able to take the 'risk' of going to the Trinamool Bhavan from the neighborhood for fear of public outrage and throwing rotten eggs. As a result, majority of the councilors said that they will not be able to attend the meeting.

The meeting was convened at Trinamool Bhavan in South Kolkata's EM Bypass with councillors. Councilors of Kolkata Municipality and top leaders of Trinamool were supposed to be present in it. There was supposed to be a discussion on the future and new strategy of Calcutta Municipality. The name of the new mayor should be finalized within the next three days.

However, it was canceled a few hours before the start of the meeting. According to Trinamool sources, the BJP may protest at the meeting of councilors called at Trinamool Bhavan at 3:30 pm. There is also fear that the crowd may throw eggs. This news came to them. In this situation, many councilors of the municipality are reluctant to come to the meeting. The message in this regard was also going to the higher leadership. It was decided to cancel the meeting.

Trinamool leader Mamata will attend the meeting of the opposition BJP's Jot India Manch on Monday. Before that, throwing eggs at Trinamool Bhavan or councilors would not be good 'advertisement' at all. The Trinamool Congress said that the decision to cancel the meeting was made after looking into all aspects.

However, the process for electing a new mayor is planned to be done secretly. The news is that the team will make the necessary signatures there.
