Attempt to smuggle yaba in the guise of a patient in Ramu, 3 women arrested

Three women were arrested for trying to smuggle yaba by pretending to be patients, saying they were going to a hospital for treatment.

The three women tried to smuggle Yaba in the guise of a patient saying that they were going to the hospital for treatment but were not saved in the end. The BGB recovered 10,000 pieces of yaba hidden in their bodies in a special manner after raiding the Morichya Joint Checkpost of Ramu Upazila of Cox's Bazar.

They were arrested on Sunday (June 7) around 8:30 am in an operation based on intelligence. They are Zobayda (40), Taiyeba (40) and Rajima (50). BGB said they are residents of Balukhali Rohingya Camp-8 in Ukhia.

Acting Captain of Ramu Battalion (30 BGB) Major Md. Nazmus Saqib Khan gave all this information.

Major Md. Nazmus Saqib Khan said that BGB's patrolling and search activities have been strengthened at the joint check post of Morichya. At that time, a suspicious CNG-powered auto-rickshaw was stopped and searched. During initial interrogation, the three female passengers of the vehicle identified themselves as patients and claimed that they did not have any illegal goods. Some of them had bandages around their necks, while others had their hands wrapped in bandages. However, as the behavior seemed suspicious, the BGB members conducted a detailed search. At one point, 10,000 pieces of Yaba hidden with their bodies were recovered. Three women were later arrested.

Major Md. Nazmus Saqib Khan said that a case has been filed against the three women under the Narcotics Control Act. They have been handed over to Ramu police station for further legal action.
