Shooting at festival in US, 12 injured

A deadly shooting occurred at a summer festival in the city of Toledo, Ohio, USA. At least 12 people were shot. After the incident, the police started an operation to arrest the suspects involved.

BBC reported this information in a report on Sunday (May 7).

Police responded to a report of gunshots near the Old West and Festival grounds at approximately 5:37 p.m. local time Saturday, according to reports from the Toledo Police Department.

Toledo Deputy Police Chief Joe said a preliminary investigation appears to indicate the two men were shooting at each other. And in this the common people of the festival were injured. The victims of the attack ranged in age from 16 to 61 years. The condition of 10 of the injured is stable, while the condition of the remaining 2 is critical.

Some videos circulating on social media showed people running around screaming in panic at the sudden sound of gunshots. Other videos showed the injured lying on the grass next to the festival tent and two being carried away on stretchers.

A two-day celebration of one of America's largest historic districts, the Old West End Festival featured live music, food stalls, shopping stalls and more. The attack took place right at the intersection of the festival where music and food were arranged.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine strongly condemned the incident, saying in a statement, “Summer festivals should be a safe place for families without fear of violence. I trust that law enforcement will quickly find those involved in this senseless crime.”

After the incident, the police started searching and investigating the entire area. However, no one has been arrested so far.
