Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) and other specialized police units are jointly conducting special operations to arrest terrorists, drug dealers and extortionists. Thirteen people have been arrested in murder, robbery and drug cases in this operation which started from last Tuesday (June 2).
According to the police, the target of arresting 181 terrorists, 584 drug dealers and 69 extortionists from 8 police stations of Khulna city has been set.
Related sources said that after August 5, 2024, the terrorists became reckless taking advantage of the weak law and order situation. Their infighting resulted in a spate of murders, shootings and stabbings. The people of Khulna have become fed up with silent extortion and open sale of drugs.
According to police data, 11 people were killed in the last 5 months of 2024, 37 people were killed in 2025 and 17 people were killed in Khulna city till June 3 this year. There have been hundreds of shooting and stabbing injuries. Names of various terrorist groups including youth gangs are coming in these terrorist activities.
In this situation, KMP published the updated list of terrorists, extortionists and drug dealers in the city last May. A draft list of 181 terrorists, 584 drug dealers and 69 extortionists was prepared in 8 police stations of the city.
According to sources, a special crime meeting was held under the chairmanship of the police commissioner regarding the current law and order situation in Khulna city at the KMP headquarters on Wednesday (June 3). The current situation was discussed in detail in the meeting. In the meeting, there was a detailed discussion about conducting joint special operations.
According to the police, three people have been arrested in Rashed's murder case in School Vita area of ​​the city. They were involved in various criminal activities including that murder. Propaganda images for terrorist group 'B Company' were found on their mobile phones. Besides, the DB has arrested four people, including a rabbi who is an associate of Grenade Babu.
Confirming the special operation, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Hasan said that KMP and other specialized police units are conducting special operations against drug dealers, extortionists and terrorists. Khulna Metropolitan Police, RAB-6 and various police units of Khulna such as: Khulna District, 3 APBN Khulna are jointly participating in this operation.
He said that the terrorists and drug dealers identified on the basis of intelligence information in the joint operation are being arrested and necessary legal measures are being taken. As of Thursday (June 4), 13 terrorists, extortionists and drug dealers have been arrested. This top officer of KMP has requested the city residents to cooperate in the operation by giving information about the criminals to the police.
