A van driver was beaten up for allegedly sexually harassing a child

In Rajshahi's Paba Upazila, the locals beat up a van driver and handed him over to the police for sexually harassing a 9-year-old child. He was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

The incident took place on the Naogaon-Rajshahi highway in front of the open university office in Naohata area under Paba police station on Monday (June 8) at 1 pm. The van driver's name is Matin Ali.

According to the police, the 9-year-old child from the neighboring area boarded the van of Matin Ali of Duari area to return home from Nowhata. On the way, the accused touched the sensitive part of the child's body. Although the child resisted, the same behavior was repeated several times on the way to Madanhati. The victim child reached home and told the matter to his father and relatives.

On hearing the news, local people got angry and arrested the accused person and beat him up. He was injured. Paba Police reached the spot and rescued the accused and sent him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Paba Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Hamid said that legal action is being taken in this regard. One person has been arrested in this incident. The accused person was rescued and sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for treatment. The child's father has filed a case under the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act as the plaintiff.
