The government has appointed an administrator in Bogra City Corporation. District BNP vice-president M. And Islam Swadhin has been appointed to this post. He took charge on Tuesday (May 19).
He was appointed in a notification issued by the Local Government Department of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.
Monday (May 18) under the order of the President. In the notification signed by Rabiul Islam, it is said that, in accordance with sub-section (1) of section 25A of the Local Government (City Corporation) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024, the following person is appointed as the full-time administrator of the city corporation mentioned next to his name until the corporation is formed or until further order.
The notification further states that while serving as Administrator, he shall exercise the powers and duties of the Mayor of the City Corporation and shall receive allowances and other benefits as per rules.
The Bogra City Corporation was formed by the government with the present municipality and the surrounding extended area. The notification in this regard was issued by the local government department on Thursday (May 14) night. Later it was published in gazette form.
The notification amended the First Schedule to the Local Government (City Corporations) Act, 2009 to include Bogra City Corporation.
According to the Gazette, the new A City Corporation was constituted with Bogra Municipality and some extended areas in its vicinity under sub-section (3) of Section 3 of the Act. According to the order of the President, the secretary of the local government department. In the gazette signed by Shahidul Hasan, the boundaries and ward layout of the new city corporation were also determined.
A total of 21 wards are placed in the new city corporation. In addition to the current municipal area, some mauzas of Sadar Upazila and Shajahanpur Upazila are also included under this. Areas covered include No. 3 Nishindara Union (Bogra Sadar) in the North, No. 5 Rajapur Union (Part) (Bogra Sadar) and No. 6 Shakharia Union (Bogra Sadar), No. 1 Ashekpur Union (Shajahanpur) in the South, No. 2 Madla Union (Shajahanpur) and No. 3 Majhira Union (Shajapur), East No. 2 Hanar Subgram Union (Bogra Sadar), No. 5 Rajapur Union (Bogra Sadar) and No. 2 Madla Union (Shajahanpur), West No. 1 Phampore Union (Bogra Sadar) and No. 4 Erulia Union (Bogra Sadar) have been demarcated.
