Even though the Eid celebrations ended two days ago, the mood of the Eid trip has not died down in Dhaka's bus terminals. People are returning home on the third day of Eid. On the one hand, people are leaving Dhaka on the pulse, on the other hand, many people have started returning to Dhaka to join the workplace after their vacation. Terminals now display images from and to Dhaka.
On Saturday (May 30) afternoon, it can be seen that many passengers have left Dhaka at the Gabtoli bus terminal in the capital. Most of them are low-income people, who were involved in the work of sacrifice in Dhaka on the day of Eid. Now the meat bag is going to the family. On the other hand, many private employees are opening offices from the future, they are again stepping into the familiar mechanical city. However, despite this two-way pressure, the passengers complained of taking extra fare.
Rangpur bound passenger Russell Akhter. He told TimesBD, “I am slaughtering sacrificial cows in Dhaka. I was supposed to go yesterday, but a landlord left his cow for slaughter. Of course, he gave me good meat. So I feel like going. There is no such thing as Eid day for poor people like us, if we can give Eid meat to the mouths of boys and girls, our Eid is only Eid. But today, I took Tk 200 more in bus fare from my work.”
Another passenger from Kushtia is Haresa Banu, a maid. He told TimesBD, “I work in a house in Dhaka. I have sons and daughters at home. The lady of the house where I work gives me leave and gives me some meat for the house. I go home with it. For us, Eid and ordinary days are the same. Because we have to work 365 days a year.”
Md. private employee returned to Dhaka. Ahsan Waheed. He told TimesBD, “The Eid holiday passed very quickly. Our office is open from tomorrow. So I am coming today. There was no suffering on the way, I was able to come safely. I had to leave my family in the village and come alone, but I have to return to earn a living.”
Gabtali Bus Terminal SR Travels Counter Master Mohiuddin Khan. He told TimesBD, “There is pressure of two-way passengers today. But the number of departures is more, the number of arrivals. The pressure of passengers coming to Dhaka from tomorrow will be more. Because we have sold good tickets for tomorrow as advance ticket sales.”
About the increase in fare, he said, “Many passengers complain without knowing. Many have not gone home due to increase in fuel prices or do not know that the price has been increased. That is why they complain.”
