Bangladeshi doctor Tasnim Zara, working in the National Health Service (NHS) in England, has been recognized as a 'Vaccine Luminary' by the British government. The announcement was made at the G-7 Global Vaccine Confidence Summit on Wednesday. This is the first time the British government has convened such an event under the G-7 presidency. It brings together experts from around the world working at the public and private levels to build and protect confidence in vaccines.
It should be noted that Dr. Tasneem Zara is a postgraduate student at the University of Oxford. He said, although I have been put on the world map by Britain, I have served the people of Bangladesh and India more. As the only Bangladeshi to be recognized as a vaccine luminary, I am proud to represent another part of the world on this platform. A photo mosaic, titled 'The Luminaries', created in collaboration with the British Government and People's Pictures, was unveiled at the event.
It features other 'vaccine luminaries' from around the world using video and images. These individuals have worked to build trust in the vaccine cause using social media. This was reported by UNB news agency.
