Popular actor Bapparaj has been in discussion for quite some time around the election of Bangladesh Film Artists Association 2026-2028 term. He also expressed his interest in participating in the elections for the post of the president of the artists' association. But at the last minute, the actor withdrew from that decision.
Initiatives to form a panel headed by Bapparaj were underway. 'Chander Alo' famous actress Rumana Islam Mukti was supposed to be a candidate for the post of general secretary in that panel. He confirmed the non-election of Bapparaj in a post on social media on Wednesday.
In a Facebook post, Mukti wrote, “Yes, it's true. Bapparaj bhai has said that he won't contest due to family reasons. Elections are just a few days away. But I'm not a person to break down. I will definitely put an honest and worthy candidate for the post of president, Insha'Allah. Respect and love for Bappa bhai was, is and will be.”
While talking to the media about the matter, Rumana Islam released that Bapparaj informed her about the decision not to elect her through a small message yesterday. He mentioned that he has taken this decision for personal and family reasons.
Mukti said, “Since Bapparaj Bhai has stepped down, no decision has been taken yet on who will be the candidate for the post of our panel president. We hope to finalize the matter in the next two-one days.”
Meanwhile, about withdrawing from the election, Bapparaj said, “Shilpi Samiti is my own organization. I have always stood by the artists and will continue to do so in the future. But due to some personal and family reasons, it is not possible to participate in the election this time. I wish all the candidates participating in the election.”
Bapparaj's decision has started a new discussion in the film industry. Curiosity has been created among the artists about who is now being added to the list of possible candidates for the post of president.
