A prison guard working in Kashimpur, one of the most important prison complexes in Bangladesh, has been accused of drug abuse and drug-related activities. It is alleged that even though administrative action has been taken against him several times, he is still on the job. Various questions have arisen between the prison administration and the locals regarding the issue.
Accused prison guard. Moshiur is currently working in Kashimpur High Security Central Jail. According to Kara sources, a total of 9 departmental cases have been filed against him so far. He also had to receive administrative punishment for indiscipline at various times.
Local residents and related sources claim that Moshiur has close contact with some drug dealers in the area around the prison. On this occasion, he is involved in drug consumption as well as delivering drugs inside the prison. Even, some of the scenes of his drug use are captured secretly.
When asked about the allegations, prison guard Moshiur said, “I have heard of such allegations for the first time.” Later he disconnected the phone. Later, several attempts were made to contact him, but his statement was not received.
Kashimpur High Security Central Jail Senior Jail Superintendent. Abdullah Al Mamun said that allegations of involvement with drugs have been received against Mashiur. However, he could not be caught red-handed. In view of the complaint, he is being given duty outside the RP gate instead of inside the jail.
He said, “There are a total of 9 departmental cases against Moshiur. His service record is not satisfactory. A departmental case is also pending. The matter is being looked into seriously and necessary action will be taken.”
Regarding the entry of drugs into the jail, the Jail Superintendent said, “Though there are allegations of drug entry through the staff, in most cases drugs are thrown from outside the jail. Sometimes drugs wrapped like balls are thrown inside the jail. To prevent these, security nets have been installed around the jail, CCTV monitoring has been strengthened and regular patrols have been increased.”
Locals complain that if anyone among those charged with ensuring the security of the prison is involved in criminal activities, the security system naturally raises questions.
They demanded an impartial investigation into the complaint and necessary legal and departmental action.

These are Kashimpur Central Jail-1, Kashimpur Central Jail-II, Kashimpur Women's Central Jail and Kashimpur High Security Central Jail. In these prisons, there are important prisoners including convicts of various discussed cases, prisoners related to militancy, life sentences and death sentences.
