Heat wave subsides, chance of rain with thunder


People's lives are miserable in the scorching heat. Although there is electricity in the city, load shedding has increased in rural areas. In this situation, the heat wave will decrease a little in different parts of the country, the Meteorological Department has predicted rain with stormy wind or rain with thunder.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has given this information in the forecast for the inland river ports of the country from 9 am to 6 pm on Friday (May 5).

According to the notification signed by Assistant Meteorologist Kazi Zebunnecha, a temporary gust of 45 to 60 km per hour from west or north-west over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Jessore, Kushtia, Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet regions. Showers with gusty winds or thunderstorms are possible.

The river ports in these areas have been asked to display warning signal number 1.

Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping across the country since last few days. In this situation, the day and night temperatures may drop across the country today, said the Meteorological Department.

They said that mild to moderate heat wave is flowing over Rajshahi, Khulna and Barisal divisions including Rangpur, Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Dhaka, Tangail, Manikganj, Faridpur, Madaripur, Gopalganj, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni, Rangamati and Lakshmipur districts and it is easing from some places.

Meanwhile, Dhaka is in the sixth position in the list of polluted air cities. This information was reported from Air Quality Index (IQAIR), a Swiss-based organization that monitors air quality, on Friday (May 5) around 9 am.

Dhaka's pollution score was 107 in IQAir's air quality index on 125 cities in different countries.

Today, Jakarta, Indonesia is at the top of the list of air pollution in the world or at the highest level of pollution. The city has a pollution score of 170. It is followed by Kinshasa city of Democratic Republic of Congo with a score of 148, Chengdu in China 142, Kathmandu in Nepal 138, Lahore in Pakistan 131, Santiago in Chile 106, Delhi in India with a score of 102.

On the other hand, Canberra, Australia has the best air quality today. The city's pollution score is only 12.
