More than 150 skins were buried because they were not sold

As the skins of more than 150 sacrificial animals were not sold in Chandraganj in Lakshmipur, they were buried in the ground. On Saturday (May 30), such an incident took place at Ramnagar Madinatul Uloom Dakhil Madrasa of Bashikpur Union of Upazila.

Madrasa authorities and local sources said that on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, skins of sacrificial animals were collected from different houses by the madrasa. However, due to non-availability of desired price and shortage of wholesale buyers, the skins could not be sold. Unable to preserve it, the concerned were forced to bury the skins in the ground due to the fear of bad smell and rotting.

Locals say that due to lack of proper storage system and effective market management, such a crisis is being created every year with leather. It has a negative impact.

General Secretary of Madrasa Management Committee Mojibur Rahman said that skin is collected by the Madrasa every year. This time too, the skins of sacrificial animals were collected from different houses by hiring laborers and hiring vehicles. Despite spending a huge amount of money, no benefit was obtained. As no wholesalers were found to sell the skins, the skins were spoiled. More than 150 skins have been buried in the ground to protect the environment. The Madrasah has faced a huge financial loss.
