NCP protests in Kushtia against electricity price hike

Demonstrations were held in Kushtia against the government's unrestrained increase in electricity and fuel prices.

Kushtia district branch of Jatiya Nagrik Party (NCP) organized this program on Thursday (June 4) around 8:30 pm at the heart of Kushtia city, Shahid Chatwar, five roads intersection.

Speakers in the rally said that when the cost of living of the common people is sky high, then increasing the price of electricity and fuel is an extreme oppression on the people. They demanded to immediately withdraw this increased price and bring the market price within the purchasing power of common people.

NCP Kushtia district chief coordinator Jannatul Ferdous Tony presided over and Tariqul Islam Tuhin moderated as the chief guest and the organization's central leader Sultan Maruf Talha spoke.

Ryan, one of the members of the NCP central committee, and Tajmul Haque, an injured fighter of the July uprising, spoke as special guests in the rally. The speakers warned that the people of the country will not accept any decision that undermines public interest. If necessary, a strict movement will be called with the general public.

The protest rally was attended by ordinary enthusiastic people including leaders and activists of NCP districts and various units. After the rally, a protest march circled the important roads of the city.
