Protest of intern doctors on 6-point demand in Gazipur

The intern doctors held a protest program in Gazipur demanding the implementation of six-point demands. This program was held under the banner of Intern Doctors Association in front of Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital on Thursday (June 4) morning.

President of the organization Dr. General Secretary Dr. Mahadi Hasan spoke at the meeting organized under the chairmanship. Fatima Noor Nadi and other leaders of the organization.

The doctors who participated in the protest said that in the current reality, the monthly allowance of Tk 30,000 for the intern doctors is the demand of the time. At the same time, they demanded the withdrawal of the recent decision regarding FCPS trainees, fixing the age limit for entry into BCS health cadre at 40 years and taking strict legal action against the medical programs conducted without registration of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) as per the proposed ordinance of 2025.

The speakers said that several important issues related to the professional development of doctors and improvement of health care have been unresolved for a long time. Dissatisfaction among doctors is increasing due to not taking effective initiatives to implement all these demands.

Concerned ministries and authorities were urged to implement the demands quickly from the rally. Apart from this, the agitating intern doctors also warned that if there is no visible progress in meeting the demands, larger programs may be announced in the future. At the end of the program, the participants ended the protest peacefully.
