The naval police recovered the chained body of an unidentified youth from the Jamuna river at Chowhali in Sirajganj.
The body was recovered from the embankment area adjacent to Jotpara Boat Wharf of Chauhali Upazila on Monday (June 1) morning.
Locals saw a body floating in the river and informed the naval police. The police went there and recovered the body.
Praveer Bhattacharya, in-charge of Chauhali Naval Police outpost, said that the hands and feet of the recovered body were tied with chains. The chain was locked. This incident has created a lot of excitement in the area.
He also said that efforts are being made to identify the identity of the young man. The body has been sent to Sirajganj General Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
According to the police, it is initially believed to be a murder. Details will be given after the investigation.
