About one maund of rotting and melted buffalo meat brought for sale at Singhardabari market of Rajarhat upazila was seized.
The upazila administration has seized about one maund of rotten and melted buffalo meat brought for sale at Singhardabari market in Rajarhat upazila of Kurigram. Later, the meats were crushed and destroyed by mobile courts.
All these meats were seized and destroyed on Thursday (May 21) afternoon.
According to local sources, the buffalo was slaughtered a few days ago. As it was not sold for a long time, the meat seller Abul Kalam brought the rotting meat to the Singerdabri market for sale.
Rajarhat Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Samiur Rahman conducted an operation on the spot based on secret information. The accused meat seller fled on sensing the presence of the administration. Later, around 38 kg of rotten meat was seized.
Rajarhat Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Samiur Rahman said that 38 kg of rotten meat was seized after receiving information. It is believed that meat slaughtered four to five days ago spoils due to lack of preservation. Later they bring them for sale. After going to the spot, the meat was destroyed and buried. The accused escaped before the authorities arrived.
