Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam. It is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. Every year, Muslims from all over the world gather in Mecca, Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj. Along with Kalima, Namaz, Zakat, Fasting, Hajj is the fifth and last of Islam. More than 1.5 million pilgrims from outside Saudi Arabia have gathered in Mecca this year. A total of 79 thousand 164 Bangladeshi pilgrims including management members arrived in Saudi Arabia in 201 flights from Bangladesh.

After intending to perform Hajj, Hajira wears Ihram before entering Makkah. Men wear two white dresses and women modest dresses. This special dress of Ihram is a symbol of equality, humility and unity. Through this, the distinctions of caste, wealth and status disappear.

On Monday (May 25), the pilgrims first performed Tawaf al-Qudum, i.e. Tawaf upon arrival at Kaaba Sharif. During Tawaf, Muslims circumambulate the Holy Kaaba Sharif seven times in a counter-clockwise direction.

After that Hajira walked seven times between Safa and Marwa hills and completed Sai. This ritual of doing Sa'i is reminiscent of Prophet Ibrahim's (a.s.) wife Hajar's search for water in the desert valley of Makkah for their son Ismail (a.s.). Then, by the infinite mercy of Allah, Zamzam well was discovered there.

Then Hajira went to Mina and stayed there last night. They worship all night in Mina, recite dhikr and talbiya in hopes of gaining nearness to Allah.

Hazira reached Arafat Maidan, located about 15 kilometers from Mina, on Tuesday morning. They will spend time there in prayer and penance till sunset. They will spend the day in prayer, recitation of the Qur'an, prayer and worship.

On Wednesday (May 27) from Muzdalifah, Hajira will go to Minaret Jamarat and throw stones at Satan. On this day, they will throw seven pebbles at the stone pillar. This act of stoning by the Hajids symbolizes the rejection of Satan's temptation.

On this day, Hajira will perform Eid-ul-Azhar prayers and then perform animal sacrifice. This activity recalls the willingness of Ibrahim (a.s.) to sacrifice his own son to fulfill God's command and the miraculous slaughter of animals by God's grace. Muslims can perform animal sacrifice on three days (10th, 11th and 12th Zilhaj).

After the animal sacrifice, men will shave or trim their head hair and women will cut off a small section of their hair.

Hajira will then return to Makkah to perform the main Tawaf. There they will circumambulate the Kaaba Sharif and then walk seven times between the mountains of Safa and Marwa.

On Thursday and Friday, Hajira will return to Mina again and throw stones at the three stone pillars. After that Hajira will return to Mecca as the final ritual of Hajj and perform farewell Tawaf at Kaaba Sharif.
