A BNP worker named Rana Mia (28) was killed by the son of Jamaat-e-Islami leader in Mymensingh. At this time, 5 people were injured. The accused Mahin is absconding since the incident.
The attack took place at Gange's house in Char Ishwardia Madhyapara village of Ward No. 31 of Mymensingh city around 5 pm on Tuesday (June 2).
Deceased Rana Mia is the son of deceased Sharaf Uddin of the same area. He was an autorickshaw driver. His relatives claimed that Rana was a worker of BNP.
The injured are Ashad (36), Mofazzal (35), Shahan (45), Munsoor Ali (50), Shakeel (30) and Dini Mia (35).
Accused Mahin is the son of Mymensingh Mahanagar Jamaat working council member Mofidul Islam Master.
Mahabul, a relative of the deceased Rana, said, “We worked for BNP in the national elections and voted for the grains of rice. Since then, we had a dispute with Jamaat leader Mofidul Master. After the football game yesterday, the boys of Mofidul Master's house came to buy cold drinks at the shop in front of our house. At that time, Rana's supporters spoke insultingly saying that he was drinking cold drinks on behalf of a councilor. The people of Mofidul Master's house threatened to beat him up. Go. After this incident, Mofidul Master's house boys attacked our house. Later, Mofidul Master himself came to our house and left.”
He said, “Today, Tuesday afternoon, Mofidul Master attacked with at least 50 to 60 people. During the attack, Mahin, the son of Mofidul Master, hit Rana's chest with a knife. Five more people were injured in the attack. After rescuing the injured and taking them to the hospital, the doctor declared Rana dead.”
Tofazzal Hossain, the brother of the deceased Rana, said, “My brother was stabbed in the chest with a knife by the son of Mofidul Master for no reason. I want the murderers of my brother to be hanged.”
Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shibirul Islam said, “Rana's body has been recovered and kept in the mortuary of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Legal action is under process in this matter.”
