The police recovered the body of a woman named Marufa Begum (60), who was missing for two days in Kishoreganj upazila of Nilphamari. His body was recovered by digging the mud floor of a house in North Baravita Maidanpara village of Baravita Union of the upazila around 12 midnight on Wednesday (June 3). After the incident, the victim's son Jewel Mia (40) is absconding. His wife and child have been taken to the police station for questioning.
Lutfar Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kishoreganj police station, said, “Initially, it is believed that Jewel buried her mother's body on the floor after killing her.”
The other son of the victim, Lavin Mia, said, “One of the three brothers has died. The other brother, Jewel Mia, lives at home and I live in Dhaka. I came home on Saturday (May 30) for the Eid holiday. The same day, I got angry with my brother and took his son to my father's house. The next day, I went to my in-laws' house, Dundibari, Jaldhaka.
He said, “Despite looking for many people, I was in despair and could not find it. My wife came home around 3:30 in the afternoon. She saw blood while fixing the mattress in the room. When I screamed, I went into the house and saw blood and panicked.”
Lavin Mia said, “Later, I saw cracks and raw soil on the floor of my brother Jewel's living room. If I suspected, I informed the locals, they also suspected after seeing the cracks and raw soil on the floor of the house. Later, the police came. They dug the soil of the floor of the house around 11:30 to 12:00 and recovered the mother's body.”
According to police sources, the body was recovered by digging the floor of the house at night. The deceased has injury marks on the front left side of his head. Initially, it is believed that the body was killed and buried on the floor of the house two days ago. The body has been brought to the police station for post-mortem. The body will be sent to the district morgue on Thursday.
Kishoreganj police station OC (Investigation) Abdul Quddus said that the accused son Jewel is absconding. Jewel's wife Hasi Begum (35) and his son Gholam Rabbi (18) have been brought to the police station for initial questioning.
Lutfar Rahman, OC of Kishoreganj police station, said, “Initially, it is believed that Jewel buried her mother's body on the floor. The victim's younger son has come to the police station to file a case. The killer will be brought under the law soon.”
