3 including mother and son killed in Brahmanbaria pickup truck

Three passengers, including a mother and son, were killed in a CNG-powered autorickshaw hit by a pickup van in Brahmanbaria.

On Friday (June 5) morning, they met with an accident on the Comilla-Sylhet highway in Biallishahar area of ​​Ramrail Union of Sadar Upazila.

The deceased are autorickshaw driver Mahbub (45), autorickshaw passenger Josna Begum (40) and her child Ashraful (5).

The injured are – deceased Josna's husband Kausar (50) and her daughter Adiba (4). They were sent from Brahmanbaria General Hospital to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. Their home is in Bahadurpur village of Mulgram union of Kasba upazila of the district.

According to the police, Kausar was going to Sarail-Bishwarod with his wife and children in a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw from Kasba in the morning. A pickup van full of fish hit the autorickshaw from behind in Biallishahar area. The passengers of the autorickshaw were seriously injured. When they were rescued and taken to the district headquarters hospital, the doctors declared the three dead.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Khantihata Highway Police Station. Abu Taher said that policemen have been sent to the spot. The driver of the pickup van and his accomplice fled immediately after the accident and could not be apprehended.
