The death of a child in a bus accident, the two-hour blockade on the Dhaka-Barisal highway is intense

A two-year-old child named Ayesha died after being run over by a bus on the Dhaka-Barisal highway in Bhurghata area of ​​Kalkini upazila of Madaripur. The angry residents blocked the road for two hours in protest. This has caused severe traffic jam on the Dhaka-Barisal highway.

The accident happened on Friday (May 5) around 4 pm. The deceased Ayesha is the daughter of Abul Gharami, an Italian expatriate.

Locals said that Ayesha came to Bhurghata market with her grandfather Motaleb Member to visit and eat sweets. Ayesha died on the spot when she was hit by a speeding bus while staying in the market area.

When the news of the death in Baschapa spread, there was intense anger among the local people. In protest, the angry crowd started a protest by burning tires and blocking the highway in Bhurghata area. This caused a long traffic jam in an area of ​​about 20 kilometers on both sides of the highway.

Later, the administration and law enforcement officials reached the spot and started working to bring the situation under control. After a long struggle of almost two hours, the blockade was lifted around 6.20 pm and traffic flow was normalized.

Residents claim that accidents are constantly happening on the Dhaka-Barisal highway. If the road is speedily upgraded to six lanes, the risk of accidents will be reduced to a great extent and loss of life will be prevented.

Kalkini Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahirul Alam said, “Locals had blocked the highway in the wake of the child's death. We tried for a long time and managed to normalize the situation. At present, traffic on the highway is normal.”
