Government Haji Abdul Aziz Khan Degree College Branch Chhatra Dal President Syed Mithu Miah has been expelled from the organization for allegedly attacking two policemen in Netrakona's Madan.
On Friday (June 5), Netrakona District Chhatra Dal President Anik Mahbub Chowdhury and General Secretary Shamchul Huda Shamim approved the press release signed by Secretary Ashraful Islam.
It is mentioned in the notification that Syed Mithu Miah has been expelled from the post of President of Govt. Haji Abdul Aziz Khan Degree College Branch Chhatra Dal in view of specific allegations of involvement in activities against party discipline.
According to police and local sources, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nadir Hossain Shamim went to the spot on Thursday evening after receiving complaints of harassment of Chittagong-bound bus passengers at Madan Government College junction. He was accompanied by members of the law enforcement agencies. Passengers present there complained of various types of harassment to the administration. When Chhatra Dal leader Syed Mithu arrived at the scene, the police requested him to stay some distance away. This led to tension between the two parties. Later, two policemen were injured in the clash. The injured have been treated at Madan Upazila Health Complex.
After the incident, the police arrested Syed Mithu. Madan Thana police said that the process of taking legal action against him is going on.
District Chhatra Dal President Anik Mahbub Chowdhury said, “Syed Mithu Miah has been expelled as per the organizational decision due to the investigation of allegations of violation of party discipline. At the same time, leaders and activists of all levels of Chhatra Dal have been ordered not to have organizational contact with him.”
