'Environment minister is the person who took the initiative to destroy the forest area and make industry'

Jatiya Nagrik Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan said, “Our environment minister is the one who took the initiative to destroy forest areas and make industries.” Then what will be the condition of the environment in the next five years can be estimated from here.

He said this at a press conference announcing the tree distribution and week-long environmental program organized by the party in Dhaka Metropolitan North on the occasion of World Environment Day at NCP's temporary office at Banglamotor in the capital on Saturday (June 6) afternoon.

Criticizing the government's stance on environment, Asif Mahmud said, “Environment is not a priority in the government's policy. If this government does not act, it will be more damaging to those who will come to power after 5 years.”

Although there is no opportunity to do anything big as a political party, this initiative has been taken with the aim of creating public awareness about the environment, he said.

Dhaka Metropolitan North NCP convener Ariful Islam Adeeb announced the week-long program on the occasion of World Environment Day at the press conference. Today, from June 6 to June 12, plantation and trees will be distributed for a week, he said.

He said, two hundred trees will be distributed and planted in twenty schools of Dhaka. A seminar will also be organized on what we can do to prevent encroachment, pollution and burning.
