In the past three days, more than five lakhs of raw hides have entered the leather industry city of Sava on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha.

On Sunday (May 30) afternoon, executive engineer of BSIC office of leather industry city. Mehrajul Maiyan confirmed this information.

He said, “5 lakh 27 thousand 676 raw hides arrived in Shilpanagari in 1712 trucks from 12 noon on Thursday to 10 am on Saturday. Among them, 5 lakh 11 thousand 540 hides of cow and buffalo and 16 thousand 136 goat and sheep hides.”

He said, “The work of storing and processing the leather coming to the industrial city is going on. To deal with the extra pressure of Eid, BSIC, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, district administration, local administration and law enforcement forces are working together. Besides, additional preparations have been made for the transportation and management of leather.”

On the surface of the industrial city, one can see leather entering the tanneries in trucks one after another. From the main gate of the industrial city to the interior of the tannery, there was no great disorder. The workers are busy unloading, storing and salting the hides.

The workers in charge of the main gate of the industrial city said that a car carrying the skin of the sacrificial animal first entered the industrial city at 12 noon on Thursday. After that, the pressure of the leather truck increased with time.

Tannery officials say that due to Eid being the biggest season of the year, extra precautions have been taken in collecting and preserving leather.
