Prime Minister announced 'Nazrul Year'


Prime Minister Tariq Rahman has declared the next year (May 25, 2026 to May 25, 2027) as 'Najrul Year'.

The Prime Minister made this announcement after the cultural program organized on the occasion of the 127th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam at Trishal in Mymensingh on Saturday (May 23) afternoon.

Pointing out that the rule of law must be established to establish a safe humane state and society, the Prime Minister said, “Political culture must be changed. At the same time, the religious, social and cultural values ​​of Bangladesh should be revived in our national life. In this regard, the life and work of poet Kazi Nazrul Islam is also relevant for us.”

Prime Minister Tariq Rahman said, “Poet Nazrul's life and works need to be spread more in the world literature court. His sense of life and philosophy should be passed on from generation to generation. As a part of this, I call upon the Ministry of Culture and the Department of Tourism to verify the feasibility of whether Trishal, the memorial of our national poet, can be declared as Nazrul City.”

He said, “Bangladesh and Kazi Nazrul Islam are an indivisible entity. He is a worthy representative of our national identity. A symbol of our national consciousness, a symbol of our nationalism.”

Culture Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury presided over the opening ceremony of Nazrul Jayanti, Trishal Member of Parliament Mahbubur Rahman gave a welcome speech and Dhaka University Bangla Department Professor Tariq Manjur gave a memorial speech.
