US President Donald Trump has expressed anger at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for intensifying military operations in Lebanon. The phone conversation between the two leaders on Monday (June 1) turned heated. In the phone call, Trump pressed Netanyahu to scale back the military operation in Lebanon.
According to two sources familiar with the conversation, the US media reported information in Axios. The news is from Roa News.
According to the report, at one stage of the phone conversation, Trump became very angry and used profanity or abuse to express his strong displeasure with the planned operation in some parts of Lebanon. Because the operation risks derailing his efforts to strike a deal with Iran.
Sources also told Axios that at one point in the conversation, Trump reminded Netanyahu how much he had supported him in the past. At the same time, he warned that if the bombing of Lebanon continues, Israel may become more isolated.
However, the White House did not comment on the heated tone of the conversation.
After speaking with Netanyahu, Trump said in a post on his 'Truth Social' platform that it was a “productive” phone call. He demanded that Israel and Hezbollah stop attacking each other. The US president also said that Israeli forces will not advance towards Beirut.
But Netanyahu said in his own statement that the Israeli military would continue to strike southern Lebanon “as planned.”
