Employers have been given until June 30 to renew work permits or transfer workers, according to a report published on Monday (June 29). The platform said that strict administrative action will be taken against workers who do not renew their work permits or transfer to other establishments within the stipulated time.
From July 1, the measure will automatically come into effect for workers whose work permits have expired for more than three months. They will be removed from the records of the respective institutions. However, if work is done without valid permission during this period, the employer will have to bear the full financial responsibility.
Qiwa Platform has clearly stated that workers who have been illegally employed for a long period of time will be automatically deleted from the record and all dues and fees will have to be paid to the employer. This new directive of the Saudi government is considered important for both expatriate workers and employers. Big administrative and financial complications may arise if necessary measures are not taken promptly.
