The number of vehicles on the Dhaka-Tangail-Yamuna Bridge highway is increasing as Eid time approaches. 39 thousand 919 vehicles have crossed Yamuna bridge in last 24 hours. 3 crore 15 lakh 31 thousand 100 taka has been collected from this.
Jamuna Bridge Site Office Executive Engineer Syed Riaz Uddin confirmed the matter on Monday (May 25) morning.
According to Jamuna Bridge Authority, 22 thousand 112 North Bengal-bound vehicles crossed the Yamuna Bridge from Saturday 12:00 PM to Sunday (May 24) 12:00 AM. 1 crore 57 lakh 94 thousand 350 taka has been collected in this toll. Toll collection from 17 thousand 807 vehicles going to Dhaka is 1 crore 57 lakh 36 thousand 750 taka.
Syed Riaz Uddin, Executive Engineer of Yamuna Bridge Site Office said, “Vehicles are crossing with 18 booths of 9 each on both sides of Yamuna Bridge. Among them, motorcycles are crossing with two booths each.”
Authorities have been collecting tolls since the bridge was commissioned in 1998. In the past, the Commuter System Network (CNS) collected tolls for the bridge. The China Road Bridge Corporation is currently collecting tolls from late 2024 following a change in government.
