Youth arrested for raping and video blackmailing a girl

Two youths have been accused of kidnapping and raping a girl in Madhavadi upazila of Narsingdi and blackmailing and extorting money by recording the video of the incident. She was raped at the house of the accused Mahbub in Paulanpur village of Meherpara union of Madhavadi police station on Wednesday (June 3).

Following the complaint of the victim's family, the police conducted a raid and arrested Mahbub on Thursday (June 4) afternoon.

The victim girl and her family said that the girl was returning home after working at a garment factory on Wednesday (June 3) night. On the way, Mosharraf Hossain (30), son of deceased Motaleb member of Paulanpur village of Meherpara Union, and Mahbub, son of Abdul Qadir, kidnapped him and took him to Mahbub's house. She was raped there. They keep a video of the entire incident. Threatening to spread the video on social media, the girl was asked to keep her mouth shut.

The victim's family also said that the accused youths demanded a huge amount of money from the family threatening to spread the video on the internet. Thinking of the public shame and honor of the girl, they forced to pay two thousand rupees and rescued the girl. At night they contacted the Madhavadi police station and filed a written complaint.

After receiving the complaint, Madhavadi police station launched an operation. A special operation was conducted in Meherpara area on Thursday (June 4) morning to verify the truth of the incident. The police managed to arrest the accused Mahbub in the operation.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madhavadi Police Station. Kamal Hossain said that the combing operation of the police is continuing to arrest the accused Mosharraf Hossain. No criminal will be spared.

The victim girl has been sent to hospital for medical examination. Preparation of cases under Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act, Pornography Control Act is underway.
